Who We Are
The Oodua Progressives Union (OPU) Kenya is a vibrant chapter of the pan-Yoruba organization established in 2010 by Gani Adams, the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland. The Kenya chapter was formed to provide an enabling platform for Yoruba sons and daughters living in Kenya, as well as friends of Yoruba culture, to connect, collaborate, and thrive.
OPU Kenya is a non-governmental and non-religious organization committed to fostering unity, cultural preservation, and collective progress among Yoruba people in the diaspora. It serves as a hub for promoting Yoruba traditions, values, and heritage while building strong relationships within the Kenyan community.
The chapter actively supports community development, social welfare, and economic empowerment initiatives among its members. Through networking, mentorship, and mutual support, OPU Kenya creates opportunities that enhance the well-being and growth of its members.
As a proud representation of Oduduwa’s legacy in East Africa, OPU Kenya continues to strengthen cultural identity, promote unity, and advance the collective interests of Yoruba people in Kenya and beyond.
